Most comic books are known for the superheros they create and vice versa. However, throughout time there have also been many very interesting and well developed characters with little or no super power at all who have gathered quite a large fan base. One of these characters is Nick Fury, created by Marvel Comics. A one time agent of the mysterious organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D., Fury had to turn against his former allies, and his battle was chronicled in a six issue limited series in deluxe comic format. The Deluxe format is similar to that of graphic novels with higher quality paper and coverstock used in the production. The story was written by Bob Harras, with Paul Neary, Kim DeMulder, Bernie Jay, and Janice Chiang teaming up for the artwork. Bill Sienkiewicz provided the cover illustrations. Each book in the series retailed for $3.50. In this lot I have all but the debut issue of the run (issues #2 - #6) in NM condition. The 2000 Overstreet Price Guide lists issues #4-#6 with a value of $4.00 each, and #2 at $5.00 due to a low print run of the book. Each is packed with high quality artwork to go along with a gripping story covering 52 pages in each issue. Fans of the cigar smoking spy should not pass by this opportunity to grab up a bit of history for their favorite character, nor should anyone looking to add a much sought after series to their collection!
