Know Your Item
Before placing a bid or sending money for any item(s), you should make
sure that you understand everything about the item. Do not hesitate to
contact the seller if you have any questions about an item, including
the seller's shipping terms, and what methods of payment they are willing
to accept for the item(s).
If you are bidding on an Expensive or High Dollar item, you may wish to
discuss the use of an Escrow Service with the Seller Before placing
your bid.
Watch For Fraud
Keep in mind that most items listed on ePier.com are offered by private
individuals; therefore, it is important that you protect yourself from
fraud. One way you can review a seller's credibility, is to look at their
feedback rating, by clicking on the number that appears in parentheses
next to their User ID. There you will find a listing of actual comments
left about that user, by other members of our community. Again, it is
always a good idea to contact the seller before you bid or buy. Because
ePier.com serves only as a venue, we cannot verify the quality of a seller's
item(s), or the ability of a seller to complete a transaction. We recommend
that you contact the seller immediately if you are in any way uncertain
about a transaction. For higher priced items ($50.00 or more) you may
want to negotiate using an outside escrow service with the seller.
Only Bid Once
To decrease the chances of being outbid by another user, you should only
bid once on an item. To do so, when placing your first bid, your bid amount
should be the maximum or most you would be willing to pay for the item.
ePier.com uses an Auto-Bidding system, and will bid on your behalf up
to the maximum bid that you indicate. Remember, your maximum bid is kept
secret.
Once you have entered your maximum bid, ePier.com will automatically record
that amount, and bid for you, only the amount necessary to outbid the
last or newest bidder. This will continue until someone places a bid that
is higher than your maximum bid. By using this method of bidding, you
will never be outbid at the last minute, without having time to place
a new bid before the end of the auction.
Keep A Record Of Auction Details
We recommend that bidders / buyers keep track of Auctions in which you
have placed a bid, by writing down the following details about the Auction:
- The User ID and e-mail address
of the seller
- The Auction / item number
- The description of the item
- The time and date the Auction
will end
- The date, time, and price
you bid on the item.
Bidders may also keep track of their bidding activity by visiting the
My Auctions section of our site, or by going to Bidder Search located
in our advanced search facility.
Contact The Seller
If you are the winning bidder on an Auction, it is perfectly acceptable
to make initial contact with the seller via e-mail. When sending your
first email, you should include your shipping information, the auction
number and any pertinent information that will make it easier for the
seller to identify the auction. Remember, a lot of people are unable to
check their ePier.com every day. ePier.com recommends Sellers and Buyers
make contact with each other within 3 business days.
Be sure to check your End Of Auction Notice to see if there is a personalized
message from your seller. This is a feature we offer to our sellers and
is used quite frequently for making contact.
If
you do not hear back from someone through email, try giving them a before
you begin to worry. A phone call is an easy way to resolve any misunderstandings.
Be Friendly To Other Users
It is always a good idea to be friendly with others, especially when communicating
through e-mail. Please be courteous and professional when communicating
with each other. Writing in complete sentences, with a courteous opening
and closing can make a great difference in how others perceive you. Good
communication creates positive results.
