Description

This is a soft cover copy in very good condition for its age. The cover is clean and good looking except for some fading and rubbing. The pages are toned from age, but clean. 88 pgs from Scholastic Book Services, 1975. There is a small round stain at mid top on front cover which you can see in the picture. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************* This book is a must for children or anyone learning to ride a horse. It includes many sketch illustrations along with the how-to text. This author is English and her books are very popular in UK. From the introduction - - - "This is a book about riding which starts from the very beginning. I hope it will also help people who have been riding for years without ever really improving, for there are many grades of riding between the beginner and the expert. Some people ride very well; they appear glued to their saddles; nothing seems to move; yet their ponies do exactly what they are asked. They are the ones to imitate. Others ride badly; their legs wave like windmills, their elbows stick out, their ponies charge hither and thither with their mouths open, looking around demented; they shout and scream and canter on roads, pretending to be cowboys. They refuse endlessly at tiny jumps or run away around a course leaving broken jumps behind them. They should never be imitated, for they spoil pony after pony, and often end up with broken necks themselves..." The book includes Learning to ride, mounting and dismounting, holding the reins, starting, halting, backing, turning, trotting, cantering and all the elements of basic riding. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************* I accept payment in the form of postal money orders and personal checks. Personal checks must clear before book is mailed. P/h is $2.75 media mail USA - Fixed cost and not actual shipping as epier may indicate. Insurance is optional, but encouraged in order to cover loss or damage in the mail. Postage extra for Alaska and Hawaii. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************* International p/h will be determined at the end of auction. International payment must be in the form of cash only - USD, Euros, GBP or Scandinavian Krona. Thanks for looking!
