These Norwegian Snowshoes are long, narrow snowshoes with upturned toe, so they clime out of the snow by themselves and they have many other features that make them the best snowshoe anywhere. They are not only competent in snow but are very graceful in appearance and lightweight, very easy for beginners to use.
They are narrow and long and have a tail rudder that keeps them tracking straight in the snow. You walk with a more natural gate that is not tiring to use like other snowshoes are. You don’t have to keep lifting them high out of the snow or walk with an unnatural wide stance like with “Bear Paws” which is very tiring. These snowshoes take care of them selves. You just walk with a natural leisurely stride.
And by building them yourself, you’ll have something to be proud of. Even if you only build them to hang in your den as a conversation piece.
But what you will soon find, if you do this, is that many of your friends and acquaintances, who have seen them, will wonder where you got them. For they know that such hand made snowshoes could cost several hundreds of dollars. When they find out that you made them yourself they will flip! And probably want you to make them a pair!

Saplings are everywhere and, if you are a hunter - start keeping your deer hides it makes great rawhide. In effect you will have nothing invested except your time. And that, too, will be reduced by use of the forms I show you how to build!
