"ALONE" Compelling, definitive portrait of this most notable American taken less than three weeks before his death. Photograph was taken at the Portland International Airport.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S STATEMENT: This view of RFK, walking alone, is at the Portland, Oregon International Airport. Photographed in May of 1968 during the May Oregon Primary. This portrait was unplanned due to a lull in the day's campaign schedule I was the only photographer to view this private moment. His dog, Freckles is shown accompanying him (to the stage left) in the grass. A 300mm telephoto Nikkor lens was used to emphasize the isolation. This pose, depicts one of the few quiet moments of the turbulent Oregon May Presidential Primary. Freckles was always close to Robert during these last three weeks.
