Kennedy fought for Civil Rights as Attorney General his positive vision for the advancement of peace, justice, equality and responsibility is still relevant today. This image is part of a portfolio of images selected by the RFK Center and the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority in a promotion celebrating the renaming of their Triborough Bridge to the RFK Bridge.

PARTICULARS: Print is Signed on the white border in lower right corner, no text. This is a photograph which employs time lapse exposure and flash technique. We hope you will agree that the result offers an ethereal feeling injected into an otherwise straight forward documentary approach.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S STATEMENT: The ethereal effect was obtained through a combination of time exposure and use of strobe electronic flash. The effect is unlike any other I have seen in a Kennedy photograph and represents an approach I frequently used at the time. It has been said of this image that it is... "Definitive of the 1960s." The camera I used for all of the Kennedy photographs was an original Motorized Nikon F with Nikkor Lenses. The photograph was taken with a 55mm Nikkor lens, known for its extraordinary qualities. Exposures were made on Kodak Tri-X film. The original transparencies and negatives have been kept in dark storage and are in pristine condition for their vintage.
