"PUBLIC REPOIRE" This image captures a feeling of repoire that was a hallmark of his early campaign efforts.
PHOTOGRAPHER'S STATEMENT: The camera I used for all of the Kennedy photographs was an original Motorized Nikon F with Nikkor Lenses. The photograph was taken with a 300mm Nikkor telephoto lens, a personal favorite for available light portrait photography. Exposures were made on Kodak TRI-X film and processed by the photographer with Acufine at 800 ISO. This is a high acutance developer particularly suited for available artificial lighting such as was encountered for this photo shoot. It possesses a fantastic balance for both tonality, shadow detail and edge contrast clarity, as can be appreciated from our jpg reproduction shown below. The increased film sensitivity enabled faster shutter speeds, necessary for hand-held portrait photography with the longer telephoto lens. The original transparencies and negatives have been kept in dark storage and are in pristine condition.
