"THE BARLOW ROAD"
The breathtaking view offers a natural "picture window" panorama allowing the eye to explore the vertical landscape from near focus to infinity... all in a natural perspective. According to a an official state marker... "The Pioneer Road here detoured the Columbia River Rapids and Mt. Hood to the Willamette Valley. The road at first followed an old Indian Trail. The later name was Barlow Road. Early travelers named the hill from the resemblance of native leaves to Laurel."
PARTICULARS: This is a composite panoramic image made from seven separate exposures and stitched seamlessly together with our Panoramic Tools (PTgui) software. The unusual wide-field of view (and natural perspective) would have been difficult if not impossible to replicate using single exposure camera systems. The Black and White translation was made with Adobe CS3 with quad-tone reproduction of the grayscale. This results in an expanded and richer tonal range.
