A very Rare Medal Cased Group plus Two signed books To R.A.F Captain Ferdinand (Freddie) Maurice Felix West later to become Air Commodore F.M.F.West.Freddie West was one of only 19 British Empire aviators to win the Victoria Cross in WW I.The Group consists of West"s full size Military Cross with his name engraved on the reverse,his full set of 5 Miniture Medals on a Bar including his V.C,M.M,1914 Star,B.W.M,V.M.On the back of the Bar has the writing BALDWIN DUNCANNON STREET CHARING CROSS.West won this Military Cross for his 23rd April 1918 bombing and strafing run against German Transports well behind enemy lines.TWO Books accompany this Group:Winged Diplomat the Life Story of Air Commodore Freddie West VC,MC etc by P R Reid and For Valour #26 the Air V Cs by Chaz Boyer which contains the biography of West and is signed by Group Captain Lord Leonard Cheshire VC,OM,DSO,DFC.Norman Jackson VC.Roderick Learoyd VC.William Reid VC.and Chaz Boyer.There is also a Special 60th Anniversary Envelope bearing West,s Signature,issued in recognition of the VC Award to West.When West died in 1988 he was the last surviving Air VC of 1914-1918.This is an Original Authentic Group and is being sold as such.
