"CHAMBER"S ENCYCLOPAEDIA". Vol. IX. "A Dictionary of Universl Knowledge for the People". 1882.London, W. and R. Chambers, 47 Paternoster Row and High Street, Edinburgh. This lovely, heavy volume has a neat cover with leather spine and trim. There are wood engravings scattered throughout. The book measures about 10" by 7" with 827 pages. There is a lot of cool information from the prospective of the late 1800"s. The illustration showing "stocks" for punish crime is quaint. The book is in good condition with wear and scratching of the cover; the spine edges have considerable wear to the leather including a loose piece of leather on top. The last two pages are dogeared on the bottom corner. A small piece of the beautiful end paper is missing at the bottom spine area on the inside front cover.
