Two Antique Wooden Spindles from a Woolen Mill. The spindles were used to hold thread or yarn in the knitting or weaving process. The spindles have a hole in the top so they could be used as candleholders. The taller spindles measures about 8-1/2" tall with the base measuring about 3-1/4" in diameter. The smaller spindle measures about 7-1/4" tall and the base measures about 2-1/4" in diameter. The spindles have metal on their tops and bases. The taller spindle is in very good condition. The smaller spindle has splits in the surface of the wood. There is one spot where the surface of the wood has come off; this is a narrow long piece, measuring about 1-1/4" long. Aren"t these neat.
