Autumn by Jean Francois Millet (1814-1875) who is famous for his understanding paintings of peasant life, escaped Paris with the other terrified residents when cholera struck the city. He fled with his family to nearby Babizon. Long after the epidemic was forgotten he remained to paint the simple folk who made their home there.
