"T.he COPPER SPIKE" by Lone A. Janson. 1979. This is a book on the building of the Railroad in Alaska and its connections with Gold and even more important and, discovery and mining of Copper in Alaska. Chapters include "A Tale of Three Cities, Valdex, Cordova and Katalia" and "Snoose, Overalls, Whiskey and Snowballs, Construction of the Copper River & Northwestern Railroad".The book has had little use. The glue on the binding has given away somewhat and a fairly small section of pages in the middle of the book has separated completely from the spine. The book has some fascinating photographs of Alaska. For example, the fifth illustration is a mountain of very high grade copper called "Kennecott" which gave a large copper mining company its name. This mountain of incredibly pure and valuable copper was in an impossibly remote location. For more information, please email me Directly at msdoll99@msn.com.
